John is a chartered accountant by background joining Deloitte as a graduate after gaining a maths degree.  After a long career with Deloitte progressing through to partner in London and the Middle East he now runs his family’s insurance business in Sussex which frees up his time to serve the Conservative party nationally and locally wherever and whenever he can.  John is the epitome of a local community champion who is an ambassador for the Conservative brand and he believes passionately in building and nurturing the grass roots of our party.

John’s business and financial background combined with his leadership experience make him ideally placed to make relevant and insightful contributions on all areas covered by the party board.

John lives in East Grinstead in West Sussex where he runs a local business and is a local councillor.  In 2023 he bucked the national trend when he was again re-elected as Conservative Councillor for Mid Sussex District Council with an increased majority from 2019, having won the seat from the Lib Dems in 2015.

Very engaged in his community John is Chair of Governors for Ashurst Wood primary school, a small village school which the governors are determined to keep flourishing.  John also chairs the local Ashurst Wood Bonfire Society which organises a free spectacular local event each year for residents as well as East Grinstead Tennis and Squash Club.  John still serves as a trustee of Age UK East Grinstead having recently stepped down as Chairman. Previously John served as lead governor on his local NHS Trust for 6 years.

Although John doesn’t get much free time when he does he loves to play tennis, golf and most sports, is a keen traveller and he loves spending time with his super soppy springer spaniel Drake who occasionally is allowed to join John on the campaign trail (Drake and John are pictured here campaigning together in Crawley in February 2024!)
